Improving procedures for work at the edge of the netpen is one example of action that can prevent the loss of equipment during work. There is also a need for improved waste management and NOFIR is collaborating with the aquaculture industry to collect discarded tools and production equipment. A number of companies within this industry are actively participating in clean-up operations, including through the financing of beach clean-ups. Several stakeholders are also working to invest in equipment that will lead to less microplastics.
